English is a language of wider communication. While respecting all cultures and mother tongue languages, we are committed to understanding each of our student’s needs and responding with clear, meaningful, sensitive instruction that results in competent communication in English. We believe that our approach encourages the rich interplay of multi-linguistic abilities and we strive to develop skills and strategies that allow each participant to move easily between English and other languages with ease and independence as a valued contributor in a collaborative learning environment.
In our programs, English is the medium of communication. This fosters a deeper understanding of the language in use, the fact that there are multiple "Englishes" and that authentic use of acceptable English ranges from vernacular to elegant spoken and written languages and these forms are promoted and utilized in context.
